Emirates Airline banned from operating in Nigeria

The Minister of Aviation announced yesterday that effective Monday, 21 September 2020, Emirates Airlines will no longer be able to fly into or out of Nigeria. This is part of the Federal Government’s reciprocity principle that has also prevented Lufthansa, Air France, KLM from resuming flight operations to and from Nigeria. Read more here.
We have been in constant contact with Emirates but we are yet to receive official communication about the next steps. In the meantime, we advise:
If you have a new booking on Emirates that has NOT yet been paid for and/or the ticket has NOT been issued, we advise you to please make a new booking on another airline to your final destination. Already made the payment? We can apply that amount to the new ticket but you may be required to pay a fare difference if any.
If you would prefer to fly with Emirates, we request that you wait until Monday, September 21 as we should have more news from the airline by then.
If you have an existing booking scheduled to fly before September 21, rest assured the flight should depart as scheduled. If there are any changes, you will be advised promptly.
If you have an existing booking scheduled to fly from and AFTER September 21, we are yet to receive official communication from Emirates about the applicable conditions. We expect this information at any moment. If you want a refund BEFORE the airline provides more information, the applicable fare rules and penalties may apply. This refund may take about 8 – 12 weeks. We advise that you be patient and wait for next steps from us.
